sermons
Sermon series design is arguably a favorite of mine. What's better than supplying a supporting visual to a vital message? My goal is to provide the versatility and creativity that comes with the unique angle each pastor takes to meet their audience.
Life on Mission: The Gospel in Action
This series served as a catalyst to get people moving towards what God has made them for. Together, we created a Life on Mission companion workbook to help congregants discover their passions and spiritual gifts.
Acts: Bearing Witness to Jesus
The call in Acts to share the gospel needed bold and compelling design that showed movement and energy.
Easter: The Story is in The Name
This client came with an idea for a design "cut out" of white paper. I took that idea and ran with it. Well, I sketched with it. This project became a fun one as I considered ways to show the Easter story within the word itself. Their creative team loved the look and ended up changing the title to coordinate with the design.
Easter Set
This church contacted me wanting a coordinating look for four Easter events at their church. These four posters hung in their foyer at the auditorium entrance.
The Book of Judges: Crooked Instruments of Redemption
After several traditional series designs, this client wanted to change up their look. One of the recurring themes for the sermons was the cycle of degradation. Left-handed justice was a theme of the sermons as well. This short series came together in a vintage way.
Eight Letters
Working through the seven letters to the churches in Revelation, this pastor entitled the series "Eight" to include a letter to their church body.
More Like Jesus
The pastor of this series specifically wanted to communicate the ripple effects of servant leadership. The old world look and the clean design brought the ancient idea into modern sensibility.
Wed Talks: Series & Marriage Conference
To attract outsiders, this pastor played off the Ted Talks look. I kept the concept clean and simple to coordinate with the other deliverables.
Elijah
Clean, simple, and modern. That was the request—and three of my favorite words. To communicate Elijah's story, I portrayed elements of his life in abstract ways: the mountain, the fire, and the rain.
The Word Became Flesh
Children were the focus in this Christmas series design. The leadership wanted to include the kids in their Advent series and graphics needed to appeal to adults and younglings alike.
All The Days of My Life
Psalm 23 lead the visuals for this series about the life of David. Dark, light, rain, sun, peace, and a sense of foreboding encapsulated the highs and lows of David's story in the design.
The Book of Judges
Stage design and an edgy aesthetic drove this design. The feel of this series varies quite a bit from the other Judges series—another example of how the client's objectives lead the art.
The Wonder of Christmas
Stage design drove this aesthetic. Hundreds of reflective snow flakes hung from the ceiling and mid-century modern cones lit from within acted as trees that flanked the stage. The typography and simplicity supported the overall retro feel.
Money Lies
This client has an amazing full stage-sized screen which created unique challenges in portraying a broad, yet cohesive, layout. The impact was amazing!
Catechism
Working through each question in the catechism, this series design called for an authoritative, yet timeless, quality..
Ruth: An Ordinary Story of Redemption
The emphasis here rested on God's movement. To support the theme of "passive action", the logo needed a kinetic energy effecting the title. The chalkboard background and wheat kernels illustrated the "ordinary" of it all.
Worship Together
Uplifting. Vibrant. Glorious. The graphic needed to inspire worship. This pastor had three different aspects of worshipping together depicted in the icons.
The Story
Video interviews of people in the church telling their stories guided this design. Each week, someone sat in a chair in front of a brick wall and told a portion of their story. The empty chair here was an invitation to the congregants to tell their story.
Lent
This Lenten series emphasized the preparation for new growth: namely, pruning.
For Such A Time As This
The objective here was to tell Esther’s story. The handwriting lends a personalized expression to this vivid narrative.
